Easy Triangle Top Sewing Pattern

$13.99 $8.39

Looking for that perfect go-to triangle top? This easy-to-sew pattern is designed for a snug fit with a looser cut on the sides—ideal for showing off a little side boob. It runs slightly smaller for that extra flirty club-ready vibe, just how the girls like it.

Whether you’re sewing to sell at the club or stitching one up for yourself, this pattern is a must-have for your sexy DIY lineup. Comes in five sizes because one size definitely doesn’t fit all.

What You Will Need

  • Two pieces of binding or piping fabric, each 24” long minimum (choose 2-way or 4-way stretch; precut binding works well)
  • One under bust string, at least 1 yard in length
  • ÂĽ yard of 2-way or 4-way stretch fabric (scraps are suitable); be sure to align the pattern with the fabric grain or indicated arrow
  • ÂĽ yard of optional lining (scraps are fine); match the stretch of the lining to that of the Tri-Top
  • Matching thread
  • Overlock machine / zig-zag stitch on a regular sewing machine
  • Binding Foot is optional (I never used one)

Pattern Assembly

  1. If you’d like a neater finish, use a serger to stitch along the bottom of both bust pieces (optional).
  2. Hem one side of each bust piece by folding under ½” and sewing with a stretch stitch, like a zigzag or cover stitch. Begin at the top point of the triangle.
  3. Repeat the hemming process on the opposite edge of each bust piece, starting this time from the base. Tuck in the top tip where the neck strap will be attached.
  4. Fold and hem the lower edge of both bust pieces by ½” to create a channel for the under bust string.
  5. Using a stretch stitch, sew the neck bias strings and under bust bias string pieces. For best results, use two neck straps each measuring 24″ or more and one under bust string measuring 36″ or more.
  6. Attach the two 24″ or longer neck straps securely to the top points of the triangle cups. I always used a straight stitch
  7. Thread the longer under bust string (at least 1 yard) through the bottom channels of the triangle cups to complete your top.
