Wide Side Comfort Thong Sewing Pattern

$12.99 $7.79

Wide Side Comfort thong is a popular thong for mini bikinis, posing suits, raves, cosplay, active wear, circus, hoopers, and pole fitness. Learn to make your own sew skimpy clothes with follow along tutorials. Others have mentioned that you could add elastic to the side straps. I never added elastic to my creations. The elastic seems to cut into the sides to much. Popular Comfort Thong Sewing Pattern comes in 4 different sizes. One size does not fit most. Let me know if you have any question?

What You Will Need

  • 2/3 yard of fabric that stretches into the bolt of fabric. 1/8 yard for some 4 way stretch fabric. I usually have binding fabric set aside to use for this.
  • Lining that matches the stretch with above fabric (you can line with the same fabric as above)
  • Matching Thread
  • Overlock machine / zig-zag stitch on a regular sewing machine

Pattern Assembly

  1. Fold top piece (1) in half. Sew to top front center (2) and lining (2)
  2. Fold both waistband (3) in half the long way. Follow measurements on sewing pattern for waistband
  3. Stay stitch both sides waist band (3) to sides of triangle (1)& (2). With 1⁄2” top overhang. Use an overlock stitch or any stretch stitch
  4. Fold unsewn area of (3) in half with the wrong side of fabric facing out
  5. Serger stitch the remainder of both side waist bands (3) with right sides together
  6. Use as string turner (or safety pin) to turn around sewn side waistband to expose the right side of the fabric
  7. Straight stitch both ends of waist band (3) together on each side to create the leg holes. Leave ¼” after the straight stitch to sew down in the next step
  8. Fold over and sew both of the flaps you created with a straight stitch (to hide)
  9. Use a stretch stitch all the way around both sides of leg holes (3) to secure and hide the serger stitch or whatever stretch stitch you choose
  10. Sew the butt crack area together by overlapping pieces. Measure 3 1⁄2” length at back (make longer for larger sizes or a bigger booty) *Make sure both side straps are the same length/size*
