Sew a flirty Mesh Insert Halter Top with this stretch PDF sewing pattern, featuring neck and back ties and a sheer mesh insert for just the right amount of tease.
This pattern includes four sizes for the perfect fit—because one size definitely doesn’t fit most! A binding attachment makes it easier, but it’s totally optional—I sewed mine for years without one. 💕

What You Will Need
- Stretch fabric (2-way or 4-way)
- Stretch Straps for neckline, sides, and under-bust ties
- Matching thread
- Overlock/serger machine (or a regular machine with a zigzag stitch)
Pattern Assembly
1️⃣ Join the mesh insert to the main fabric
Use a ¼” serger stitch to attach the mesh insert to the solid front along the cleavage or inner-bust seam.
2️⃣ Finish the neckline
Fold a small Stretch Strap in half lengthwise to create binding.
Enclose the neckline edge inside the fold, pin, and sew. Trim any excess.
3️⃣ Add side straps for neck ties
Cut two Stretch Straps (about 25″ each), fold in half to create binding, and enclose the side edges of the top.
Pin and sew both sides, leaving the upper ends free for ties.
4️⃣ Secure neck ties
Stay-stitch each strap, trimming any extra at the bottom.
Finish by tying small knots at the strap ends — simple and clean.
5️⃣ Attach the under-bust strap
Cut a Stretch Strap long enough to bind the bottom edge and wrap around for back ties (about 1 yard minimum).
Fold in half, pin the center to the lower center of the top, and sew while gently stretching for a snug fit.
Finish by tying small knots at each end of the back straps.
