What You Will Need
- 1 piece of 1 yard minimum binding/piping of 2 or 4 way stretch fabric (I use precut binding)
- 2 pieces 24” long Minimum neck tie string 1 3/8” wide (I use pre-cut binding)
- 2 pieces 9” long binding string by 1 3/8” wide
- ¼ yard 2 or 4 way stretch fabric (you can use scraps) place pattern on the fabric grain / arrow
- ¼ yard optional lining (you can use scraps) match fabric stretch with Tri-Top
- Matching Thread
- Overlock machine / zig-zag stitch on a regular sewing machine
- Binding Foot is optional (I never used one)
Pattern Assembly
- Serger stitch bottom of both triangles for aesthetics (not a requirement)
- Stay stitch binding to inner bust. Overhang binding ½” on top and bottom (binding sizes listed on sewing pattern)
- Wrap binding around tri-top fabric edge. Finish the stitch using a cover stitch, zigzag stitch, or any other stretch stitch.
- Snip off the unfinished ends of the binding on both top and bottom of tri-top (cut 4 binding ends)
- Pin one side of 24” binding piece to outside of tri-top at bottom. Measure to the top tip of triangle and pin. Use these measurements per size 1 3/8” for all sizes BY XS 6”, S 7”, M 8”, L 9” Then stay stitch (see video for instruction)
- Repeat the previous step for the other side Tri-Top
- Wrap binding around tri-top fabric edge. Finish the stitch using a cover stitch, zigzag stitch or any other stretch stitch.
- Snip off the unfinished ends of the binding on both top and bottom of tri-top (cut 4 binding ends)
- Hem bottom edges of both triangles ½” for string hole
- Wrap the under bust string that measures a minimum of 1 yard. Finish the stitch using a cover stitch, zigzag stitch or any other stretch stitch. Use a binding foot if you have one
- Pull string through both tringles using a string turner. Tie ends to secure
