What You Will Need
• ½ yard stretch fabric (2-way recommended)
• ¼” cotton braided swimwear elastic
• Four ready-made ¾” garter straps
• Matching thread
• Elastic foot attachment (optional)
• Serger or home sewing machine
Pattern Assembly
1️⃣ Finish Edges
Attach ¼” elastic around all edges using a serger or zigzag stitch. Keep the fabric smooth and gently stretch the elastic as you sew.
2️⃣ Join Back Seam
Fold the belt in half and sew the back seam with right sides together. Reinforce by stitching through the elastic.
3️⃣ Hem Edges
Fold the elastic to the inside and hem with a cover stitch or zigzag. Open the elastic at the back seam so it lays flat under the machine.
4️⃣ Attach Garter Straps
Place fabric strap ends and ready-made garter ends right sides together and pin to prevent shifting.
5️⃣ Sew Strap Connections
Stitch ½” from the ends to secure. Fold or open the seam to hide raw edges, then add a small straight stitch inside to hold everything flat.
