🧵 What You Will Need
(¼” serger seam allowance included throughout)
- ½ yard stretch fabric (2-way or 4-way stretch)
- 1½ yards pre-cut stretch binding or band fabric
- Matching thread
- Home sewing machine with zig-zag or stretch stitch
- Serger / overlock machine (optional but recommended)
🧷 Assembly Overview

Join Thong Body
With right sides together, sew front and back pieces at side seams and crotch seams using a serger or stretch stitch. -
Prepare Waistband
Cut two waistband pieces (2″ wide). Join short ends to form a loop, ensuring stretch runs horizontally. -
Attach Waistband
Fold waistband in half lengthwise, wrong sides together.
Pin to inside top edge of thong with thong wrong side out.
Serge in place, then optionally topstitch seam allowance flat. -
Prepare Leg Bands
Cut two leg bands (2″ wide). Join short ends to form loops with stretch running horizontally. -
Attach Leg Bands
Match leg band seams to crotch seam.
Stretch evenly and serge around leg openings.
Optionally topstitch seam allowances flat.
