What You Will Need
- 1 yard binding/piping of 2 or 4 way stretch fabric (I use precut binding)
- 1 /4 yard center thong (you can use scraps) place pattern on the fabric grain / arrow
- 1/4 yard optional lining (you can use scraps) match fabric stretch with center thong
- Matching Thread
- Overlock machine / zig-zag stitch on a regular sewing machine
- Binding Foot is optional (I never used one)
Pattern Assembly
- Pin both small side binding pieces (2) t0 thong and lining (1) at center of thong (this can be viewed on the video links below)
- Stay stitch down both sides of binding (2) to thong (1)
- Fold in binding and sew both sides all the way through to finish the sides. Use a cover stitch, zigzag stitch, or any stretch stitch (use a binding foot if you have one)
- Snip off the unfinished ends of the binding on both top and bottom of thong (cut 4 binding ends)
- Fold waistband (3) in half the long way. Sew ends together 1/2″ from edge using a straight stitch
- Pin fold of waistband (3) to center front top of thong (1)
- Open the 1/2″ straights stitch of waistband (3) pin to the center back of (1)
- Stay stitch down both front and back of waistband (3) to thong (1)
- Fold in binding and sew all the way through to finish the waistband (3). Use a cover stitch, zigzag stitch, or any stretch stitch (use a binding foot if you have one)
